Milanesa (breaded steak)

Hello fellow foodies,

My husband spent two years in the southern part of Argentina. They eat lots of meat and deep fry everything….

Our first Valentine’s I decided to attempt this Argentine dish.  I looked it up and liked the “italiano” version. My husband was so happy! It is now a tradition on Valentines day 🙂

Ingredients needed:

  • 5 Thin sliced steak
  • 1.5 cups Italian Breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup Paramesean cheese
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt and pepper
  • 5-10 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 5-10 slices of ham
  • 1/2 -3/4 marinara sauce

For this recipe I had 5 steaks (just for reference). You can use more or less and adjust ingredients as needed.

I mix the salt and pepper in with the eggs and the paramesean cheese in with the breadcrumbs.

Next part is simple. Dip the steaks into the egg mixture and then the breadcrumbs.

I don’t really deep fry anything so we usually just use our George foreman to grill them.

After they are all grilled I place them on a baking sheet.  (I used our over sized pizza pan this time.)

Next spread 3-4 tbs of marinara on each steak.  Top with ham and cheese (1-2 slices depending on size)

Broil the steaks until cheese is melted.

Serve with a side salad, mashed potatoes and roasted carrots

Happy eating,
